Longaberger Pottery: Everything You Need to Know

The Longaberger basket people did more than just weave. Their vintage pottery is beautiful and functional.

Most people know Longaberger as the Midwest basket company that dominated picnics, parties and home decor (if you could afford it). Longaberger began weaving in the late 19th century and became well-known for their American baskets throughout the 20th century. But Longaberger Pottery is the gorgeous but lesser known kitchen and dining collection by the same company.

Featuring the same attention to detail, American-based manufacture and lasting quality, this now discontinued pottery has a lot of fans. You can use it as your go-to kitchenware, since it’s dishwasher safe. But if you just want a bit of farmhouse decor, this vintage pottery is a great accent piece. The pitcher works equally well to upscale your morning o.j. or showcase a hallway bouquet.

Vintage dishes make great home decor accents if you’re looking for farmhouse decor ideas

The Longaberger Pottery line are a perfect complement to modern farmhouse decor, even if they’re just for show! They make great gifts for bakers, too. The design and style is classic vintage dishware and was made in the USA, primarily in Ohio through the 1990s. Be sure to check out the distinctive Longaberger headquarters building, which looks like a huge basket. There were brief periods the pottery making was outsourced to other partners so short runs of the Ohio brand were actually manufactured elsewhere. The final years of Longaberger saw several near deals to revive the brand, but Longaberger declared bankruptcy in 2022 making it unlikely they will come back.

This kind of kitchen pottery is made to last, and it’s hard to find today. It’s also more unique, since it’s not available anymore. It not only will add some interesting style to your kitchen, you will be able to enjoy relatively rare pieces that offer distinction with this vintage functional pottery.

Is Longaberger Pottery valuable?

Longaberger pottery collectors know that it also has appreciated in value. Some Longaberger Pottery items are worth much more than their original price now. For example, here is a set of four Longaberger Pottery bowls priced at $160. For even more value, keep an eye out for full sets of dishes, which are highly sought after. In addition, specific patterns tend to be more popular. The Christmas collections were probably limited runs. As a result they might fetch a higher price from the right collector. The Woven Traditions heritage weave pattern, which came in green, blue and red, is the more iconic style that Longaberger Pottery collectors would recognize immediately.
